FULL NAME: DIANA BARRAND
CHARACTER/S IN T-BAG:
Holly-Anna Jones
EPISODES APPEARED IN:
10 Episodes (1 Series)
BIRTH DATE: 14th October 1971
BIRTH PLACE: Mombasa, Kenya

Diana went to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, in 1987 the Children's TV show Splash filmed a special programme entitled 'School for Stars' focusing on Jane Horn, a student at the school. Diana can be seen a few times throughout this special which can be seen on Youtube.

Diana was cast as the children's TV presenter Holly-Anna Jones in Turn On To T-Bag. Diana took over the role of the girl from Jennie Stallwood who had played Debbie in the first three series. Diana then became the first main cast member to have joined the series since John Hasler, Elizabeth Estensen and Jennie Stallwood all appeared from the first series. Turn On To T-Bag was filmed between September and November 1987 and aired from January 1988.

Diana was a welcome addition to the series, making her an enduring nemesis for T-Bag throughout the fourth series. Diana sung many of the songs in the series including 'Whistle a cheerful tune' (episode three), 'Bubble Girl Kid' (episode four) and Good King Wenceslas (episode six). Diana had many highlights through the series including being the only girl to brandish a gun at T-Bag (episode nine) and being locked up twice (episodes two and seven).

From the age of fourteen Diana appeared in theatre. Diana appeared as Annie in the production of Annie at the Perth theatre, Scotland, for six months and also appeared in the Howard Barker play 'The Bite of the Night' (1988-1989), as Charity, for the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Barbican Theatre, London. The opening night was on the 5th September 1988 and ran through to 1989.

In the late 1980's Diana also made other TV appearances on the BBC series 'Rockliffe's Folly' in 1988 and episodes of the BBC children's series 'Bad Boyes' and in 'Crimewatch'. Diana also appeared on the Christmas special of the 'Cannon and Ball' Show and in a space themed Milky Bar Commercial.

In 1990 at the age of 18, after T-Bag and her other TV and theatre appearances, Diana was in a girl band called 'Faith, Hope & Charity' alongside Dani Behr and Sally-Anne Marsh. Initially the band was named S.W.A.L.K. but after being signed by Tom Watkins (the manager of pop duo Bros) they changed the name of the band. Faith, Hope & Charity released two singles, 'Battle of the sexes' and 'Growing Pains' (see images in gallery below), through WEA records. The single 'Battle of the sexes' charted at number 53 in June 1990 but the following single 'Growing Pains' failed to chart, after this the band split. The 'Growing Pains' single also featured another song titled 'The Battle's One' which is part new song mixed with the 'Battle of the sexes' music and lyrics.

Below is a gallery of images taken from the 'Battle of the sexes' music video, scans of the two CD sleeves and promo VHS.

Diana had worked as a manager at the Topshop store in Bluewater in Bexleyheath and during 2001-2002 she was managing a girl band (no-one particularly famous) whilst working in a hair salon. Sometime in 2006 Diana moved to Australia with her family. She returned to the UK briefly but intended to go back to Australia in December 2008.

Diana went on to work with the girl band Stooshe after recruiting two of the Stooshe girls whilst Diana was working in the Topshop store. Diana became their stylist for a year working in the UK with them, she was very involved with them and co-wrote two songs which appeared on their 2013 album 'London with the Lights On', Hoochi Mama and My Man Music which would be their last single released in July 2013.
